Holiday Workshops
Great News: These classes are designed to give the students a variety of movement styles and a bit of fun and something different than the regular and more disciplined ballet technique lessons during term time. Look out for notices around the end of term time for information. These classes must be booked and paid in order to cater for guest and visiting teachers booking requirements. Guest teachers in the past have covered styles such as Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Contemporary.
Make Up Classes
Could parents and carers please contact me by email, phone or text if a student is unable to make a class due to injury, sickness or other commitments. In most cases students will continue to learn by being visually active in watching their peers perform. Other cases due to injury and rehabilitation may have students reducing only certain steps but are able to perform upper body movements thus learning to isolate and break down coordinated movements. I urge all parents to encourage healthy eating habits and give your child a good high protein snack before dance lessons for lasting energy and bring a water bottle. Lastly classes can be made up if missed due to holiday or sickness. All exam students must make up all missed classes so to fulfil the recommended study hours required and gain their personal best in time for the exam day.
Exam Outfits and Stage Performance Costumes + Accessories
- Miss Jenny
- January 2024
Hello Parents and Carers,
Students who intend to sit for exams will need an appropriate outfit. Please see items below that I have listed for the individual Grades. These items are chosen with value for money in mind but also so the students look well groomed and feel comfortable while dancing. Students not intending to sit for exams are also asked to purchase the same outfits for class work and the Stage Performance in May if required.
Pre School Level 1 and 2- Own dress up tu tu and leotard or attached bodice any colour however not too long as this restricts their ability to kneel and stand while moving. Little feet need to become used to wearing ballet shoes especially the leather ones. Both ballet socks or Theatrical Pink Ballet tights for colder weather are also good to put on feet to prevent chaffing. Bare feet are also good for a while as they can feel their feet and toes on the floor. However not in the winter months.
Pre Primary and Primary Exams/Assessments – Bloch Dance Wear store in Miranda on the Kingsway opposite Westfield Shopping have a list of the studios uniform and a 10% reduction for SSDFS students. Both grades can wear the same outfit. Students can usually use the same outfit for the two years unless it becomes worn out or too small. Therefore choose the size that you think will be good for 2 years.
